Who Should Throw The Shower?

Many women will have multiple baby showers depending on how close their groups of friends are; however, try to limit the number of baby showers and not overwhelm an expecting parent. A close friend, relative or co-worker will typically throw the baby shower.

Who should be invited?

Baby showers are usually not surprise parties, so it may be best to ask the guest of honor who she would like to have invited. Some mothers-to-be feel uncomfortable getting gifts from people they may not know. My mom invited all of her friends to my shower, but since I barely knew any of them, it was not a lot of fun for me. The presents were nice, but it was a bit uncomfortable.

Always check with the expecting parent to make sure you are not missing anyone important or inviting someone that they do not want to attend.

When should I hold the baby shower?

Ask the expecting parents to choose a date that works for them! It is typically better to plan the shower five to eight months into pregnancy. Guests love to see the big belly of the expecting mom; however, do not wait too long because parents will need enough time to buy baby gear before the arrival of their child.
